May really is a beauty of a month, and the second Bank Holiday Weekend is fast approaching. We’ve been checking out what’s on for families in Berkshire and we’re pleased to announce there’s more fun than you can shake a Morris Dancers stick at. From events, to special activities, eating out, places to walk and loads more, we’ve got your back when it comes to great family fun this May Bank Holiday Weekend in Berkshire.

World Horse Trail, Windsor Town Centre

Now until 31 July 2019

World Horse Trail windsor berkshire 2019

Bring the children into Windsor Town Centre to find the 10 unique horse statues around town until 31 July 2019 in the World Horse Trail. All you need to do is pick up a location map from Royal Windsor Information Centre or Windsor and Royal Borough Museum and see if you can find all ten! Each horse is unique and has their own story and design, painted by patrons and supporters of World Horse Welfare including Sara Cox and Martin Clunes. The trail is aimed at highlighting the World Horse Welfare’s work.

May half term is Nature Explorers Week at Wellington Country Park. Bring the kiddies down to celebrate all things nature with a host of activities to enjoy. Activities vary over the week but include; a mud kitchen, stick whittling wands, make a bird feeder, pebble painting, make a stick person, bug hunting, and much more!

Toy Box Explorers Show at The Lookout Discovery Centre, Bracknell

This fun show looks at the science behind toys! Come and help the presenter play with the toys and

Shows run at the weekends and during the school holiday at 11.00am, midday, 2.00pm and 3.15pm. The show costs £1.95 per person on top of your admission fee to The Lookout. Shows are suitable for primary school aged children and don’t need to be booked in advance, just buy your tickets from reception when you arrive.

This half term sees the return of time travelling magicians Morgan & West with their Magic Show for Kids and Childish Grown-Ups. Mixing brain boggling illusion and good old fashioned tom-foolery, this is a show for all the family. Get tickets for Monday 27 May at 11.30am and 2.00pm, click here to find out more.

Daily arts and crafts and storytelling sessions will be taking place to help keep children entertained over the school holiday. The arts and crafts sessions vary so you can create something new everyday. Sessions last 45 minutes and are for ages 5 – 8 years, find out more and book here. Summer Daze Garden Party at The White Horse Hermitage

This Saturday is the first Summer Daze of the season at The White Horse Hermitage. It runs from midday until late and entry is free. This will be a great afternoon for all the family with live music, an outside cash bar with food, face painting, a tasting stand and much more. Plus children can make the most of the great outdoor play area.

By May Half Term Spring has most definitely sprung all over Basildon Park National Trust. Get outdoors into the fresh air and enjoy the stunning grounds with a half term trail and why not bring a picnic if the weather’s good, or head to the café if not. This half term bring the kiddies to the Theatre Royal Windsor to see Treasure Island. Children’s TV stars Callum Donnelly and JezO invite fun-seekers to come aboard as they set sail for Treasure Island – prepare yourselves for a very funny, big, bright and breezy swashbuckling time on the high seas. Victoria and Albert 500 at Windsor Castle

This May marks exactly 200 years since Queen Victoria’s birthday. Bring the children down on Saturday 25 May for a host of celebratory activities, including a sneak preview of some of the exciting attractions lined up for the family festival on 14 September. Children can create a colourful collage of Queen Victoria or Prince Albert in an art workshop.

And on Monday 27 May settle down in the State Apartments for a brand new story from the Castle’s favourite storyteller Olivia Armstrong. Learn about Queen Victoria’s momentous reign, and maybe even try on one of the spectacular new Victorian costumes. Storytelling takes place at 11.30am, 1.30 and 2.30pm.

Activities are free with standard entry to the Castle. Remember, if you have a RBWM Advantage Card, admission to the Castle is free too.
