There’s not much of a more magical way to kick off the Christmas festivities than going along to your local Christmas lights switch on event with the kids. These are great afternoons where you can wrap up warm and enjoy the celebrations, sometimes even with a local celeb thrown in for good measure!

Bracknell Christmas Lights at The lexicon

Sunday 25 November 2018

This year, the Christmas celebrations at The Lexicon will begin on Sunday 25 November, with the Christmas Lights switch on and an afternoon of music and entertainment.

Join in the fun at Princess Square at 4pm for a performance from Vocalese choir, followed by members of the Bracknell Gymnastics Club switching on the lights inside.

Later, head down to Union Square for 5.15pm to watch the magical Snow King and Queen illuminate the Christmas tree and the surrounding lights throughout the centre!

The evening entertainment continues in The Avenue down to Bond Square at 5.15pm with performances from Spark! a spectacular LED drummer band.  At 6pm there will be snow and a lightshow, finished off with a performance by the Reading Gospel Choir at 6.10pm, who are back by popular demand!

Throughout the evening in Bond Square, Nando’s will be handing out their beloved chicken hot wings!

From midday, you can also pick up a limited edition branded Christmas baubles for £2, with all money raised being donated to charity of the year, Bracknell Gymnastics Club.

Christmas on the Green, Datchet Lights Switch on

Saturday 1 December 2018

This year there will be festive fun for all the family at ‘Christmas on the Green’ and the annual lights switch on at St Mary’s Church and The Green in Datchet, Berkshire.

Get your Christmas shopping off to a great start at the St Nicholas Fayre Gift Market and Café, St Mary’s Church 12.30-3pm. Join the Family Advent Carol Service at St Mary’s Church at 4pm for festive performances and carols followed by the traditional candlelit procession to The Green at 5pm. Then it’s Christmas on The Green, from 4pm to 7.30pm, with the Christmas tree lights switch on at 6pm, carols by candlelight, Santa’s grotto, face painting, delicious food and drink and much, much more… To find out more about this event, click here.

 

Woodley Christmas Lights 2018

Saturday 24 November 2018

At 4.30pm on 24 November will be the switch on of the Woodley Christmas lights with the Tree of Light from the Woodley and Earley Lions. This year by the centre stage near Cozze. There will be Carols with Woodley Churches, The Reading Operatic Society & The Woodley Concert Band. With mince pies, mulled wine, and roasted chestnuts this is a family event not to be missed!

Maidenhead Lights Switch On

Saturday 24 November 2018

This year’s Christmas lights in Maidenhead will be switched on on Saturday 24 November. Throughout the day in Maidenhead there will be a Christmas Market with a fabulous selection of stalls and street food as well as children’s funfair rides.

At 4.30pm entertainment begins on the stage at the Town Hall followed by the official countdown and lights switch on at 6pm. After the lights go on there’s a spectacular fireworks display from the roof of the Town Hall. More information on events and activities to be announced soon, click here.

 

Thatcham Christmas Lights Switch On

Friday 7 December 2018

The evening will start at 5.00pm with 25 charity stalls offering a selection of games and competitions plus there will be a treasure hunt around town centre businesses. The on stage entertainment starts with a live outdoor broadcast with Kennet Radio then there will be performances from Spurcroft Primary School, Kennet School, KATS, community carol singing lead by Jamie Read and St Mary’s Church Choir. The big switch on taking place at 7.00pm.

Please be aware that the eastern side of The Broadway will be closed to all road traffic from 1pm, including the central car parking area.

Sandhurst Christmas Lights Switch on 2018

Saturday 24 November 2018

Join in the fun when the Mayor of Sandhurst will switch on the Christmas Tree Lights on Saturday 24 November at Sandhurst Memorial Park from 6.00pmCome along and sing Carols with the Sandhurst Choir and Sandhurst Community Brass Band. There will be mulled wine, squash and warm mince pies served by your Town Councillors.

Sunningdale Christmas Celebrations& Lights Switch On

Friday 30 November 2018

The Sunningdale Christmas Celebration will take place on Friday, 30 November 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at the junction of Chobham Road and the A30. Santa’s getting ready, are you?!

Come along for great family fun at this annual festive celebration, and it’s a free event!

Shops and businesses will be open late and you can enjoy a wide range of seasonal activities, refreshments and entertainment. With Santa’s grotto, mulled wine, mince pies, biscuit decorating, face painting, local choirs and much, much more, come along and help light up Sunningdale.

Wokingham Christmas Lights & Winter Carnival 2018

Sunday 25 November 2018

Thank you to everyone who visited last year’s Wokingham Winter Carnival. Please bring the family along again this year on Sunday 25 November 2018. The theme this year is ‘Love Wokingham: A Winter Wonderland’. It starts at 11.00am and finishes around 6.00pm.

The Carnival is a free community event held in the town centre with entertainment for all the family. The event attracts many thousands of visitors from Wokingham Borough and others who travel from all over Berkshire and the surrounding counties.

Attractions for the day include fun fair rides, over 125 food, craft and charity stalls, non-stop free entertainment including a magic show, Punch & Judy, comedy jugglers, clowns, Morris dancers and other special entertainers.

Santa will also be in his Grotto in the warmth of the Library from 11am – 3pm. Younger visitors are very welcome to come and visit and share their Christmas present lists with him.

Eton Wick Christmas Lights Switch On 2018

This is a  free, community run, annual, Christmas tree light turning on event for all the family taking place in Eton Wick, Berkshire. This year it will take place Saturday 1 December 2018 from 5.30 – 6.30pm.

Newbury Christmas Lights & Parade

Sunday 18 November 2018

There’s an action-packed agenda this year in Newbury for families. On Sunday 18 November the Christmas lights will be switched on. The fun will kick off at 3.00pm with performances from Uncovered and Berkshire Maestro’s Swing Band. The annual Santa Parade sets off from Market Street at 4.45pm and will make its way to Market Place, ready for the big switch on at 5.15pm.

The Grotto is also making a return, this year to a new location at Parkway Shopping Newbury.

Slough Christmas Lights Switch On

Saturday 17 November 2018

The Christmas lights switch on event in Slough will feature music, dance and a preview of The Curve’s pantomime Beauty and the Beast.

A 40ft Norwegian Spruce Christmas Tree will be installed in the town square a few days after the Christmas lights switch on event.

There’s also a festive family fun weekend planned for 15 & 16 December 2018 where there will be a land train, Santa’s fun animals, stalls, face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon modelling, a Christmas trail and other activities.

Eton Christmas Lights Switch On 2018

Thursday 15 November 2018

Eton’s festive season commences on Thursday 15 November 2018 at 5.30pm, with the Christmas light switch on evening. There will be a Community Carol service at Eton College Chapel (6pm), followed by a parade through Eton High Street to the Jubilee Square where the lights for Eton will be switched on (7pm). There will be community stalls, live music, Santa’s Grotto and live reindeer.
