The Berkshire Show 2018 at Newbury Showground

At this year’s Berkshire Show you’ll find many great demonstrations, displays and spectacular shows for all the family to enjoy. Here’s a small taste of what you can expect at this fantastic weekend-long event; falconry display, dog agility, millers ark farm, pond dipping, an assault course, circus skills, segways, Tractor Ted, the Emergency Services will be in attendance letting kids get hands on with their vehicles, mountain bike stunt team, and much, much more!

Plus, there’s also a food & farming section, horse shows, livestock and over 70 stalls in the food section sure to offer something for everyone! Gate prices are; adults £20, children (5-15 years) £7, family (2 adults & up to 2 kids) £50. Or you can do what we did and save by buying the tickets in advance online. Carparking at the event is £5.

Join a tiny snail in her trip round the world in Tall Stories’ magical, musical production. Inspired by the best-selling book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, come and follow the tiny snail’s exciting journey, as seen through the eyes of an adventurous young girl and her seafaring father… Storytelling, live music and lots of laughs from the Olivier Award nominated company that brought you The Gruffalo live on stage.

Saturday 15 September 2018 is Bubble Rush Berkshire at the BCA, raising money for Thames Valley Hospice. There will be a 2.5k and 5k route making this accessible and fun for everyone. Children will also get the chance to meet Finn the Bubble Fish. There will also be entertainment and refreshments available on the day.

Join Peppa as she gets ready to go on an exciting camping trip to the woods with George and her school friends, including Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep and Gerald Giraffe. With lunch-boxes packed and Daddy Pig driving the bus, Peppa and her friends are excited about their outdoor adventure, full of games, laughter and live music! The happy campers soon settle down to sleep and listen to the gentle pitter patter of rain. Family Saturdays: The Wedding Bells of Windsor at Windsor Castle

Running every Saturday throughout September, is this fun event for families at Windsor Castle. Family Saturdays this month will offer a second opportunity to learn about Windsor Castle’s importance as the setting for royal weddings.

Saturday 15 September at midday will be Royal Wedding Storytelling in St George’s Hall with Olivia Armstrong. Children attending the storytelling will receive a commemorative booklet about royal weddings at Windsor that includes a mini picture trail to follow in St George’s Chapel.

This event is free with a standard admission to the Castle. Castle entry is free to families with a RBWM Advantage Card (residents of Windsor & Maidenhead). To find out more on admission costs to the Castle, click here.

Heritage Open Days in Berkshire

This weekend is the second, and last, weekend for Heritage Open Days. This is an annual celebration of England’s architecture and culture giving free access to places which may usually be closed or chargeable for entry. There are some great places in Berkshire opening their doors to the public many with children’s activities available, here are some of them; All Saints’ Church Ascot Heath, Newbury Town Hall Open Day, Shaw House Newbury, Centre for Heritage and Family History Reading, Museum of English Rural Life, Royal Berkshire Hospital Medical Museum Opening, St Michael’s and All Angels Church Sandhurst, St Laurence Church Slough, All Saints Parish Church Wokingham, Wokingham Town Hall, and more.

Can you really make water disappear? Can you make a fire balloon? Come and find out in this fun show. Shows run at the weekends and during Bracknell school holiday times, at 11.00am, midday, 2.00pm, & 3.15pm. Finishes Sunday 28 October.
