1940s Weekend, Newbury Town Centre
Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 September 2018
This weekend in Newbury town centre is the 1940s Weekend, a historical event for all the family to enjoy with loads of activities taking place across Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September. You can expect all of this, and more; war walks, photo exhibitions 1940s radio and fashion show, wartime films, Ruby’s retro and vintage fairs (Sunday only), community and military parades, a children’s street party, vehicle displays, arts & crafts, and a Big Band and other artists performing on Saturday night.

Slough Canal Festival 2018
Saturday 8 & Sunday 9 September 2018, 11.00am – 5.00pm
Slough Canal Festival is a wonderful weekend by the water. Two days of fantastic free fun for all the family, with free parking, free displays and performances, and much more. This year you can expect; canal boat rides (for a small fee), bird of prey displays, steam engine train, mobile farm, ferret racing, kids craft sessions, face painting and glitter tattoos, bungee trampoline, small fun fair rides, bouncy castle, and food & drink. Family Saturdays: The Wedding Bells of Windsor at Windsor Castle
Saturday 8 September 2018, midday
Running every Saturday throughout September, is this fun event for families at Windsor Castle. Family Saturdays this month will offer a second opportunity to learn about Windsor Castle’s importance as the setting for royal weddings.
Saturday 8 September at midday will be Royal Wedding Storytelling in St George’s Hall with Olivia Armstrong. Children attending the storytelling will receive a commemorative booklet about royal weddings at Windsor that includes a mini picture trail to follow in St George’s Chapel.
This event is free with a standard admission to the Castle. Castle entry is free to families with a RBWM Advantage Card (residents of Windsor & Maidenhead). To find out more on admission costs to the Castle, click here.

The Gravity Grand Prix, Cookham Dean
Sunday 9 September 2018
The Gravity Grand Prix runs every year in Cookham Dean since 2007 and attracts over 2,000 people. This is a free to watch fun event and fund raising day with over £120,000 raised so far for local charities, including the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance. Come and watch amazingly creative and wacky designs of cars race down 700 meters of course, propelled simply by gravity and a big push at the start. The day is a real carnival atmosphere great for a family day out with a fairground, food & drinks, and entertainment. Click here to find out more including a course map.
Nick Cope Family Music at Corn Exchange Newbury
Saturday 8 September 2018, 10.30 – 11.30am
Join Nick Cope for his ever-popular interactive music sessions for families, with songs about everything from counting to how plants grow. Nick’s family music sessions have proved extremely popular over the past few months, so book in advance to enjoy this great morning session at the Corn Exchange Newbury – winner of the Little Ankle Biters Best Local Theatre award for 2018.

First Birthday Celebrations at The Lexicon, Bracknell
Friday 7 – Sunday 9 September 2018
Join the Lexicon for 3 days of fun activities to help celebrate their 1st birthday from 7 – 9 September. With plenty of surprises around each corner, The Lexicons avenues, walkways and squares will be brought to life for this big birthday bash, through live music, magicians, jugglers, aerial performers, and stilt walkers. Here’s what you can expect over the three days; free cup cakes handed out by M&S all weekend, a 4DX-perience from 2-6pm outside Cineworld on Saturday, The Lexicon Proms from 5-9pm in Bond Square on Saturday, The Bubble Wizard Show (Bull Square) and glitter face painting (The Avenue) from 11am on Sunday, a tea party and swing band in Bond Square from 2pm, and not forgetting a roller skating birthday cake! There will also be a giant game of pass the parcel in Bond Square on Saturday at midday. Phew! Happy birthday to The Lexicon!

Splash, Bubbles & Balloons Show at The Lookout Discovery Centre, Bracknell

Bring your little ones to The Lookout Discovery Centre in Bracknell from 5 September – 28 October 2018 for The Splash, Bubbles & Balloons Show. This bubbling and explosive show is not to be missed. Can you really make water disappear? Can you make a fire balloon? Come and find out in this fun show. Shows run at the weekends and during Bracknell school holiday times, at 11.00am, midday, 2.00pm, & 3.15pm. Finishes Sunday 28 October.

Aylesbury Waterside Festival 2018

This September, Aylesbury town centre will be celebrating the history of it’s canal. The canal area will be awash with a continental market, a floating market, live music, street entertainment, canal boat trips, water-based activities, arts and crafts, food tasters, refreshments, and much more, all at the new and exciting Waterside Festival.
