We just got back from a gorgeous day spent pottering around Bucklebury Farm Park in Berkshire. It’s great place to visit with children of all ages, our 5 and 4 year olds absolutely loved it.
It’s not the biggest farm out there, but that’s part of it’s charm, and it was all very manageable for little legs too (no moaning of tiredness by lunchtime here!) There’s plenty to do at Bucklebury. We loved the free tractor ride through the deer park, it was an amazing experience getting so close to these beautiful creatures and a fun trip for our little tractor enthusiast too! It only runs at certain times throughout the day so plan ahead when you want to go and make sure you get over there in good time, especially if it’s a busier day at the farm. That was a real highlight for us, especially getting to chat with Rupert who was super friendly and knowledgeable.
We also really enjoyed the animal handling session in the barn, and meeting all the gorgeous farm animals in the stables including the beautiful donkeys, ponies, sheep and even llamas.
Other things at the farm for the little ones to enjoy are; bouncing pillow, go-karts, outdoor play area, indoor slides, woodland walk, panning for gold, and more.
We finished our day off with egg collecting which was so much fun! We explored the chicken garden before the children got to check in the chicken boxes and retrieve the eggs for the day. It was really engaging and fun for them. And of course we bought some fresh eggs from the shop to take home with us.
There’s a great restaurant called Woody’s which serves hot and cold drinks, cakes and pastries, and a selection of hot and cold food. There are also plenty of areas to enjoy a picnic if you get lucky with the weather and prefer your lunch al fresco.
This was a great place to visit and we’ll definitely be going back again soon.
