Carters Steam Fair 80s Weekend at Prospect Park, Reading

14 & 15 April 2018

Head down to Prospect Park in Reading for all the fun of the fair this weekend. Running from 14 to 15 April 2018, Carters is an amazing experience run by a local family that’s been entertaining families in Berkshire for 40 years. The fair season may have just kicked off, but you can expect loads of fun from the World’s largest vintage travelling funfair.

The fair is free to get in to, and the rides operate on a token basis. You can buy tokens on the day at the fair, or online here now. You’ll also find plenty to fill tummies with food and drink vans, candy floss and sweets and treats. For families with slightly older children there’s a not-to-be-missed free fireworks display at 9.00pm on Saturday 14 April. The fair will be open from midday – 10.00pm Saturday, and midday – 8.00pm Sunday.

Fabulous Fashions & Easter Trail at Windsor Castle

14 & 15 April 2018, 11.00am – 4.00pm

Bring the children to Windsor Castle this weekend to follow an Easter activity trail and take part in a workshop inspired by royal fashion throughout history. Children will be able to listen to period music, learn about royal fashion, and dress up in beautiful replica royal clothes in the State Apartments. These activities are free with your standard entry ticket.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Basildon Park, Reading

Last chance – finishes on Sunday! Come along to Basildon Park this weekend and pick up an Easter Trail from the visitor reception (in the stables near the car park) for the Cadbury Easter Egg hunt. Children will love following the trail and having a go at solving the clues, before collecting a chocolatey treat at the end! You’ll also learn lots about the animals at Basildon Park and the habitats they live in.

The trail costs £3.00 per child and runs from 10.00am – 5.00pm.

What’s on this Weekend at Norden Farm, Maidenhead

Saturday 14 April 2018

There’s a packed agenda for children on Saturday at Norden Farm. Why not take the kiddies down to get involved in an arts and crafts session based on Peter and the Wolf. The session starts at 10.30am and is £5.00 per child. Suitable for 5 + years, click here to book your place. Or how about a trip to Norden’s Big Screen for the kiddies to see Early Man (PG) at 11.30am, tickets are £5.00 and can be booked here. Also this Saturday, Chamberhouse Winds perform a magical transcription of Prokofiev’s classic tale of Peter and the Wolf for wind quintet and narrator. Sunday 15 April 2018

This Sunday is Monski Mouse’s Baby Disco at Norden Farm! Join the Australian DJ, producer and mum-of-two with her dancers in this interactive early childhood event. Parents and under 5s are let loose on the dancefloor in the friendliest of discos. The disco starts at 11.30am, is suitable for children under 5 years, and tickets start at £8.00. Easter at Bucklebury Farm

There will be plenty of fun on the farm this Easter at Bucklebury Farm. Throughout the Easter holidays (until Monday 16 April) they will be running the Great Easter Egg Hunt, where little ones can go off in search of the giant Easter Eggs. You can also get involved in lamb feeding, where kiddies can get hands-on and help feed the orphan lambs at Bucklebury Farm.

Meet Peter Rabbit at Parkway Shopping Centre, Newbury

Everyone’s favourite and very mischievous bunny, Peter Rabbit will be hopping over to Parkway Shopping Centre in Newbury on Saturday 14 April 2018. Bring the kiddies down to say hi, get their faces painted in the Easter workshops, and join in for some storytelling inside John Lewis at 12.15pm, and much more! This is a free meet and greet with Peter Rabbit, he’ll be here at the following times: 11.00am Joules, midday John  Lewis, 1.00pm Waterstones, 2.00pm Gelato Joes, and 3.00pm Joules. Easter Trail at Beale Park, Pangbourne

28 March – 16 April 2018

Easter Trail – 28 March to 16 April, 10.00am – 4.00pm – Bring the children down to have a go at the special Easter Trail at the park over the holidays. For just 50p per child (on top of your admission to the park), follow the trail and find 10 answers dotted around the park. Once you’ve finished, hand your answers in to the Gift Shop for your chance to win some fantastic prizes. You may even get a chocolate treat at the end of the trail!

What’s on this Weekend at Wellington Country Park

Bring the children to Welly Park this weekend from 14 – 15 April. As well as all the usual fun you can expect at the park, you can also see The Big Foot and PeteZa Show. Come and join the fun family show at 11.00am, 1.30pm or 3.30pm. Shows last approximately 45 minutes. There’s no additional charge to see the show, it’s all included with your admission to the park. Tickets can’t be booked for this in advance so get there early to avoid disappointment.

Odeon Kids Club, Berkshire

Fancy snuggling up with the kiddies in the cinema with a tub of popcorn? It’s a great way to spend a cold morning, and the Odeon make it even easier with their Kids Club. Fantastic films at a fraction of the usual price.

Eating out with Children this Weekend – Family Friendly Restaurants in Berkshire

Yucky You Show at The Lookout, Bracknell

In this disgustingly entertaining live science show you can find out all sorts of things like:

  • why mucus is snot a bad thing
  • what happens to the food we eat
  • how long your hair can grow

Our shows run at the weekends and in Bracknell school holidays. Shows cost £1.95 per person, on top of your entry fee. You don’t need to pre-book tickets to our shows, just buy them from reception on the day. Show times are everyday at; 11.00am, midday, 2.00pm, 3:15pm.

Shows are suitable for Primary school age children. A good guide is whether a child can sit still for around 40 minutes, however our presenters are very good at tailoring the content to the show audience. Please note, all shows need at least 10 people to run.

Easter at Cliveden National Trust

Running from 30 March and all over the Easter holidays, bring the little ones to Cliveden National Trust this Easter for a Spring themed trail around the estate, and a chocolate treat at the end! There’s no need to book, just turn up and enjoy all that Cliveden has to offer. As well as the trail there’s a children’s play area, a maze and café & restaurant if you want to grab a bite to eat too.

The trail will run daily from 30 March – 15 April 2018, 10.00am – 3.30pm. It’s £3.00 per child and you can get your trail sheet from the information centre by the main car park.

Henley River & Rowing Museum are holding daily Easter Egg Hunts over the Easter Holidays. The hunt is free with your admission to the museum.

Spring into Easter this Weekend at Odds Farm Park, Bucks

From 30 March until 15 April, join the Easter Eggs-Scavenger Hunt taking you throughout the Farm Park, enjoy daily shows with the Oddsocks Family and Spring-themed arts, crafts and games.

Savill Garden this Weekend, Windsor Great Park

1 – 15 April 2018

Bring the children to Savill Garden this Easter for The Windsor Great Park Spring Trail. Have family fun as you explore the gardens and learn about the history and natural surroundings of The Great Park. Follow the trail, unscramble the Easter message, before returning to the Savill Building to collect your prize. The trail runs from 10.00am – 5.00pm and trail sheets cost £3.50 each (collect and pay at the main reception in the Savill Building.

A Big Day out with Peter Rabbit, Kew Gardens

Starting on 30 March and running over the Easter holidays, come to a fun-filled Peter Rabbit themed Easter at Kew Gardens with entertainment for the while family from 30 March to 15 April. Join in this Easter to take part in an exciting adventure featuring Peter Rabbit and his friends. Take part in games and find out about the vegetables that Peter found in Mr McGregor’s garden. Follow a trail based on Peter Rabbit and other Beatrix Potter characters.

Discover Beatrix Potter’s links with Kew, her struggles to get recognised in the scientific community and how this led her to create her world-famous characters.

These activities are all free with your admission to Kew Gardens (adults £17.75, children 4 – 16 years £4.00, children under 4 years free).
