Windsor On Ice, Alexandra Gardens

Alexandra Gardens is once again home to Windsor On Ice (think ice rinks, rides, food & drink and live music), which runs from now until 7 January 2018. Tickets for skating can be booked online, and we have full info in our review including details on Santa and Tiny Tuesdays.

Foraging and Campfire Cookery, Nature Discovery Centre, Thatcham

6 January 2018

Come and join us at the Nature Discovery Centre for a morning of finding free wild food (foraging) followed by cooking tasty and nutritious recipes over a campfire. No need to bring lunch!

The course is suitable for adults and children aged 12 years + (children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is also booked on). No experience or knowledge of foraging is needed. Tickets are £15 each. Runs from 10.30am – 2.30pm.

Peter Pan Pantomime at The Hexagon, Reading

9 December 2017 – 7 January 2018

Come and join us on a magical journey as we fly away to Neverland this festive season with Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. Returning due to overwhelming public demand, Cbeebie’s superstar Justin Fletcher will be joining in the fun and mayhem once again as Mr Smee and Paul Morse will be donning another array of fantastic frocks as Nanny McSmee. The Hexagon once again promise a panto full of adventure, with a stunning set, spectacular song and dance routines, a lot of traditional panto slapstick, and of course, a ticking crocodile! Sleeping Beauty Pantomime at The Theatre Royal, Windsor

29 November 2017 – 7 January 2018

Panto at The Theatre Royal is quintessentially English and set in a beautiful traditional theatre which will make you feel nostalgic from the moment you walk through the door. Starring DJ Mike Read, Basil Brush (boom, boom), Kevin Cruise and Steven Blakeney. The enchanting tale is a traditional family favourite and Windsor pantomime has a magnificent reputation as one of the best in all the land. Tickets from £17.00.

New Year Family Fun Ride – Bray Lake

Saturday 6 January 2018, 2.00 – 5.00pm

Get the whole family out on their bikes, and join us for a 6-8 mile ride. Led by our experienced volunteers, we’ll ride at a steady pace so everyone has a great time! Please do wear helmets and bring lights with you as we will be cycling at dusk.

The ride will meet by the entrance to Bray Lake (SL6 2EB). If you are driving, there is a public car park just past the lake’s gates. This is a free event but you need to register before the day.

Beauty and the Beast Pantomime at The Corn Exchange, Newbury

1 December 2017 – 7 January 2018

Will the Beast ever break the terrible curse that entraps him? Will love conquer all? And which pop star will pen the next big hit that’ll feature in this year’s pantomime extravaganza! Prepare for an action-packed tale full of songs, mischief and plenty of magic. Our ever-popular pantomime has become a fun-filled tradition for the families of Newbury and beyond. The BFG in Pictures, River & Rowing Museum, Henley on Thames

From now – 21 January 2018

Everyone’s favourite giant comes to Henley in this magical exhibition of Quentin Blake’s illustrations.

Curated by Quentin Blake, the exhibition includes unpublished illustrations which have never been exhibited in public before. Enjoy 40 of Quentin Blake’s original artworks for the story that has enchanted generations of children and adults. The exhibition includes Blake’s first designs which weren’t included in the book, and provide a glimpse of a BFG that might have been…

Families can curl up with a book in our story corner, or enjoy some magical craft activities!
