What’s on in Berkshire this weekend for families: 28 & 29 October 2017

The last weekend of October is upon us, Halloween is reaching it’s climax and Fireworks weekend is on it’s way. But, before that, here’s a summary of what’s on in Berkshire this weekend for families.

Creepy Cruises for Halloween, Newbury Wharf

The Ghost Ship Jubilee will be sailing from Newbury Wharf on Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Sunday 29 October at 2.00pm and on Saturday 28 at midday and 2.00pm for special Halloween Creepy Cruises. The boat and crew will be dressed especially for Halloween and we hope our passengers will be as well. Come and join us for a spooky fun-packed hour on the Kennet and Avon Canal. Price: Adults £6, Seniors £5, Children (2-15) £5, Children under 2 free but MUST have a ticket.

Twyford and District Roundtable Fireworks Night

This spectacular bonfire and fireworks night will take place this weekend on Saturday 28 October in King George’s Field, Twyford. Gates open at 6.30pm with fireworks kicking off at 7.30pm. Prices on the door are adults £7, youths £4 and children £1, with all proceeds going to local charities. Halloween Fun Day, Ockwells Park, Maidenhead

Come down to Ockwells Park in Cox Green this weekend on Sunday 29 October from 12.00 – 4.00pm, for an afternoon of all things Halloween. It will be a chance for the children to dress up (adults too!!) and enjoy some good old fashioned Halloween entertainment! For more information, click here.

Hallo’welly’ween at Wellington Country Park

Head down to Wellington Country Park with your little ghouls from 21 – 29 October for a ‘Spook’tacular week of fun. There will be lots of events and activities taking place including storytime, monster’s mischief and magic shows, a creepy craft room, scary face painting, a haunted Halloween train ride, pumpkin carving and much more! Halloween Haunt Hunt, Newbury

For your chance to win fantastic prizes, follow the trail around Newbury town centre using the clues and find the letters to reveal the secret code! The hunt runs until Saturday 28 October 2017.

From the 23 October entry forms can be collected from the Halloween workshops in Parkway Shopping and the Kennet Centre, open 9.00am – 5.00pm. Please post completed forms into the ballot boxes found at Parkway Shopping and The Kennet Centre Halloween workshop. Please note: The Halloween workshop in Parkway shopping is open 11.00am – 4.00pm. Binfield Scarecrow Trail

If you’re looking for something different and outdoors to do with the little ones this October, why not pop along and have a go at the Binfield Scarecrow Trail this weekend. The trail runs from 23 – 29 October 2017.

Come & see an amazing collection of scarecrows throughout Binfield village. Maps are £2 each available from Crema Coffee Shop or Binfield Village Stores. Have fun and return your map at the end for a little treat. Bring your friends, and park in roads throughout village. All proceeds go to Binfield ARC, supporting the new church roof. Sandhurst Town Council Free Fireworks Display

This weekend on Saturday 28 October from 5.00 – 10.00pm, come down to Sandhurst Memorial Park for a free fireworks display. Fireworks will start at 7.30pm. There will be live entertainment from community groups, fun fair rides, inflatables and hot food stands. Fun for all the family! Donations to the Mayor’s charity gratefully received. The Night Forest, Braywick Nature Reserve, Maidenhead

‘The Night Forest’ returns to Braywick Nature Centre 25 – 28 October 2017, 5:30 – 7.00pm. All the fun of Halloween for the whole family, with pumpkin carving, a procession at twilight and after-dark stories by the campfire. For more information and to book tickets, click here.

Legoland Ninjago Fireworks Spectacular & Brick or Treat, Windsor

This October half term bring your little monsters to the LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort and get into the Halloween spirit with our Brick or Treat event. With many fun spooktacular activities plus over 55 rides, live shows and attractions, the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is an awesome day out for all the family. Mortimer Scarecrow Trail

This weekend grab your wellies as the Mortimer Scarecrow Trail returns along with this year’s autumn half term holiday. Running from Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 October 2017, the scarecrows will be on show daily from 9am to dusk each day. The trail finishes at 4.00pm on Sunday 29 October. This year’s theme, One Of a Pair, is based around famous and infamous pairs i.e. Beauty and the Beast, Bonnie and Clyde, Posh and Becks! As in previous years, it will be an excellent way of keeping the kids – both small and not so small – entertained during the half term week. Trail followers will be able to vote for their choice of scarecrow in each one of three winning categories and have the chance to win £50 in the trail competition. The “Just For Fun” quiz will be about the ‘pairs’ themselves – make sure you are armed with paper and pen! Costing just £1, trail maps will be available from Budgens and Dads Shop from Thursday October 19 October. Pumpkin Carving, Cobbs Farm Shop, Hungerford

Our popular pumpkin carving event is back, this time for 7 days. Pick up a pumpkin and get creative in our carving tent this October Half Term. Come rain or shine our pumpkin carving tent is ready for action, open from Monday 23 to Sunday 29 October! Choose the perfect size pumpkin from our farm shop, pay for it and your entry ticket at our farm shop tills then head over to our carving tent where you’ll find all the tools required to make your very own masterpiece ready for Halloween. Entrance to the carving tent is £3.50 per child and includes a complimentary Halloween treat and squash to keep those creative juices flowing! Beale Park

Beale Park is an outdoor wildlife park set within 30 acres of beautiful grounds. There are gardens and a deer park, as well as over 20 species of animals including alpacas, meerkats, monkeys and lemurs. There’s a great adventure playground, sand pit and a Little Tikes outdoor village which the little ones will love. And if rain makes an appearance there’s also a Little Tikes under 5’s indoor soft play area. From 20 to 31 October there’s a special pay-on-the-day promotion where one child goes free in fancy dress when accompanied by one full paying adult. This promotion is not available on-line. Halloween Spooktacular at NAWT Berkshire

On Saturday 28 October come down to NAWT Berkshire (Trindledown Farm, Great Shefford), from 6.00 – 9.00pm. Come and join us for our first Halloween Spooktacular. Dare you enter our spooky maze, go trick or treating and see what’s behind the stable doors, and enjoy the other activities we have on offer. Take part in our fun Halloween costume competitions for dogs and their children, and enjoy Halloween themed refreshments throughout the evening. For more information, click here.

Halloween at The Oakley Court Hotel, Windsor

For those with slightly bigger budgets, from 27 – 31 October mummies and daddies can immerse themselves in the spooky world of Halloween with a limited edition Halloween themed afternoon tea, with a glass of fizz naturally (£39.50 per head). What’s more, children are welcome to join you for their own afternoon tea for £15.00 per child. The Big Draw at Windsor Castle, Saturday 28 October

This October, children can take part in the World’s biggest festival of art and drawing at Windsor Castle. After being inspired by the beautiful surroundings of the Castle, come along to our drop-in art workshop and create your own masterpiece to take home. The sessions run from 11.00am – 4.00pm every Saturday in October and Half Term. The event is free with a standard entry ticket. Last chance before this fantastic event closes.

Halloween Party, Junglemania, Woodley

Junglemania in Woodley will be hosting their annual Halloween party on Saturday 28 October, from 5.30 – 7.30pm. The party will be ticket only and likely to sell out quickly so get yours now to avoid any disappointment. Tickets are £8.50 per child and available at Junglemania or over the phone. There will be prizes for the best fancy dress, and a present for every child there. There will be spooky games and party snacks. For more information click here.

Kids Spooky Mini Disco, Holiday Inn, Maidenhead

Join us for a Spook-tacular kids disco on Friday 27 October from 3.00 – 6.00pm with Dave the Disco, face painting and bouncy castle. Tickets are £15.00 per child (2-12yrs), under 2 – free (no dinner box). Tickets include: Dinner box, bouncy castle, face painting and Disco. For more information, click here


Something a bit further…

Hitcham Dairy Ice Cream Shop – Halloween Ice Cream

Hitcham Dairy is an ice cream shop based on Lent Rise Road in Burnham. As well as yummy ice cream all year round, they also have a great outdoor play area for children. This Halloween the Wizards have been at work and something strange has happened to their ice cream… Dare you try their spooktastic new ice cream flavours; Vampire Cookies, Herman Monster, Bat Droppings, Spiders Web and Toffee Apple. Halloween Festival at Odds Farm Park, Wooburn Common

This Half Term from the 21 – 31 October, get ready for stacks of Halloween fun at Odds Farm! Enjoy fun Halloween entertainment, dress up in your creepiest costume to take part in the twice-daily fancy dress competitions and carve a pumpkin to take home with you! Cliveden National Trust

This half term there are some spooky Halloween happenings down in the woods at Cliveden! Bring your little ones to Cliveden National Trust between 21 and 29 October, anytime from 11.00am – 2.30pm for a fun Halloween trail around the grounds of stunning Cliveden. £3.00 per child.
