The Pineapple in Dorney is sandwich heaven. I’ve never had a better sandwich, it really is that good and it has the accolades to prove it. If you’re a fan of the two chunks of bread with yumminess in the middle kinda lunch, then you need to go for a visit.
Hidden away in the beautiful village of Dorney in Berkshire, The Pineapple is a family friendly pub which serves food throughout the day. They have a fully enclosed garden perfect for al fresco eating, and are also dog friendly with water and doggie treats on hand. No one is left out here. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and always go above and beyond to make sure you’re happy. It’s definitely worth booking, especially if the weather isn’t great as the inside space isn’t the biggest and it’s popularity means it gets pretty busy most lunchtimes. There are over 60 delicious sandwich combinations to choose from, including things like; All Day Breakfast, Christmas Dinner, Passage to India (chicken tikka, iceberg lettuce, mango chutney), Sheep Dip (carved lamb with minted mayo), French Vine (Brie with grapes), Scrumpy Jack (mature cheddar, sliced apple, mild cider mustard), Al Caprawn (prawns in a rose sauce) or Loch Lomand (smoked salmon with fresh lemon juice and cracked black pepper). There’s so much choice, you’ll just have to keep coming back. As well as a pretty hefty sandwich (brown bloomer, white bloomer, wrap, toasted bagel or baguette), you also get to choose from chunky chips, salad or soup for the side.
The Pineapple definitely knows to stick to what you do best, and wall to wall sandwiches are what you’ll find on the menu, apart from Sundays when they also do a cracking Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Children are also well catered for. They have a selection of children’s sandwiches bound to please all taste buds, including; Dairylea, Marmite, Nutella and peanut butter. You could also get one of the adult sandwiches to share (did I mention they’re massive), or we’ve asked for a sandwich from the adults menu before and they’ve done it for the kiddies. They also do a children’s roast on a Sunday.
A little watch out… If you have little ones still in the nappy stage then be aware that there aren’t baby changing facilities here.
