Set in 350 acres of beautiful parkland, Wellington Country Park is the perfect day out for kiddies who like to run wild and explore the great outdoors. There’s so much here for little ones. Around the park you’ll find adventure playgrounds, where they can slide, climb and swing their way around, or try out the giant zip wire and balance beams. There’s also a big jumping pillow (they should have one of these for adults too) which mine both love. There’s a height limit on this helping to keep it safe for little ones. You’ll also find toddler specific play areas in the park.
The animal farm and petting barn is home to numerous furry friends including Shetland ponies, donkeys, pigs, sheep, rabbits, goats and alpacas. Children can feed the goats and sheep (bags of animal feed can be picked up for a small cost at the admission desk). Don’t miss the animal petting sessions which are held in the barn. You can find out times at reception when you arrive.
On top of all that you’ll also find a large sand play area with diggers (don’t forget your bucket and spade), a water play area, an indoor soft play for the under 2’s, miniature railway, a splash zone (open April to September) and a real life snakes and ladders where you can climb the ladders up hills for beautiful views of the park before deciding which of the speedy slides to travel back down on again. Oh, and not forgetting the mini golf.
For those who fancy a night under the stars there’s also the option to camp at Wellington, which is perfect as there really is too much for just one day so you can extend your visit and see it all at a more leisurely pace.
