Okay, I’ll come clean. This one was more for me and purely an excuse to go and indulge. I had promised myself only restaurants on here that were really aimed at families and children, but hey I made an exception and boy was I glad I did. The Botanist exceeded my expectations. Not only was it fabulous with the most deliciously perfect cocktails (all sampled in the name of research, naturally), but they were really welcoming and great with my 4-year old pink ankle biter (the blue one, with less than amazing eating habits, stayed home chewing the table leg). They had plenty of things to keep children entertained including colouring packs and a kids cart that had books, puzzles, Jenga and more. The menu was well thought out and with generous portions. While you’ve got the usual scampi, bangers & mash and mini burgers, they’ve also popped in some inspired alternatives such as chicken, pepper and sweetcorn kebab and a deli board (hummus, crudités, red Cheshire cheese, honey roast ham and brown bread).
We’ll definitely be returning when the blue one stops eating like a Caveman, although I have to say I don’t think they would have minded one bit.
