Hurrah, the long weekend is within touching distance, and if you can peel the kiddies away from the Easter eggs for a bit, there’s an absolutely jam packed agenda all weekend long. So here’s our handy guide to all the best bits happening this bank holiday weekend in Berkshire for families. Have fun!

Easter Family Fun Day, Grenfell Park Maidenhead

Saturday 31 March 2018, 11.00am – 3.00pm

On Saturday 31 March 2018 there will be a family Easter Fun Day in Grenfell Park from 11.00am – 3.00pm. This will be a FREE event aimed at families (great for children 0 – 12 years). During the event there will be an Easter Egg Hunt, face painting, bunny mask decorating, and many other children’s activities. There will be refreshments available, including hot food, ice cream and freshly made tea and coffee. As well as all this you can expect things like; a bouncy castle, fairground rides, football skills fun, a Sima’s Action Kids session, and more.

Visiting Farm Animals at Cobbs Farm Shop, Hungerford

Monday 2 April 2018, 11.00am – 3.00pm

They’re back for a special Easter Monday visit! Our friends from Farms 2 Ewe are visiting Cobbs on Easter Monday. Come along with the kiddies to meet some very cute and furry animals.

Meeting the animals is totally free of charge. While you’re there why not check out the great childrens play barn or grab a bite to eat in the café.

Breakfast or Tea with the Easter Bunny, Wyevale Garden Centres

19 March – 15 April 2018

Hop along to your local Wyevale Garden Centre this Easter and meet the Easter Bunny. Tuck into a delicious meal and enjoy a bunny hunt and delicious treats. Children will receive a cuddly toy and an activity sheet as well as decorating their own Easter cookie. Cost £10.95 per child. Sessions last around 90 minutes and are suitable for 3 – 8 year olds.

Participating garden centres in and around Berkshire; Binfield, Hare Hatch, Heathlands Wokingham, Marlow, Sherfield on Loddon, Thatcham, Windsor and Winnersh.

Easter Weekend at Stubbings, Maidenhead

There’s loads going on at Stubbings this Easter weekend to help keep the little ones entertained.

Come down for a free Easter Trail from Good Friday through to Easter Monday through the stunning listed Victorian walled garden. Children will enjoy a learning experience, filling in their answers as they go, and any completed sheets handed in at the café will get a chocolate treat! The trail will run from 10.00am – 3.00pm, pick up your sheets from the café till.

On Saturday 31 March come and meet Elsa in the Nursery Marquee and treat your little ones to a pretty glitter tattoo (£2.00 per tattoo). There will be a Frozen backdrop for photo opportunities. Children will also be able to plant a sunflower seed in a pot to take home with them.

Carters Steam Fair at Prospect Park, Reading

Head down to Prospect Park in Reading for all the fun of the fair this Easter. Running from 30 March to 8 April 2018, Carters is an amazing experience run by a local family that’s been entertaining families in Berkshire for 40 years. This will be the first fair of the season and you can expect loads of fun from the World’s largest vintage travelling funfair.

The fair is free to get in to, and the rides operate on a token basis. You can buy tokens on the day at the fair, or online here now. You’ll also find plenty to fill tummies with food and drink vans, candy floss and sweets and treats. For families with slightly older children there’s a not-to-be-missed free fireworks display at 9.00pm on Saturday 31 March and 7 April. The fair will be open from midday – 8.00pm everyday, and midday – 10.00pm on the Saturdays.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Basildon Park, Reading

Come along to Basildon Park from 30 March and pick up an Easter Trail from the visitor reception (in the stables near the car park) this bank holiday weekend. Children will love following the trail and having a go at solving the clues, before collecting a chocolatey treat at the end! You’ll also learn lots about the animals at Basildon Park and the habitats they live in.

The trail costs £3.00 per child and runs from 10.00am – 5.00pm.

Easter at The Herd, Pangbourne

Sunday 1 April 2018

Easter is all about family, food and chocolate! Bring the kids down to The Herd in Pangbourne on Easter Sunday for an egg hunt, an egg painting competition, and they’ll even be able to meet the good old Easter Bunny.

Easter Egg Hunt at Highclere Castle

Come down to Highclere on Sunday 1 April for a family fun day in aid of the NSPCC. Families will enjoy following a special Easter trail through Highclere’s gardens and woodlands, finding clues en route. At the end each child will collect an Easter egg prize. Children are invited to take part in an Easter Bonnet Parade and can enjoy a bouncy castle and other games on the lawn (weather permitting).

Adult tickets must be pre-booked, these are £7.00 each, and you can advise how many children you are bringing. There’s a suggested donation on the day of £5.00 per child which will go to the NSPCC. The Easter egg trail will run from 11.00 – 3.00pm, and the Easter Bonnet Parade will take place at 2.30pm.

Easter Events at Wellington Country Park

The Big Top is coming to Welly Park this Easter weekend, and there’s an absolutely jam packed agenda crammed with family fun over the whole school holiday period. Here’s a taster of what you can expect this weekend as well as the great walks and play spaces at Welly Park.

Easter Family Fun Day at Bracknell Ski Centre

Monday 2 April 2018, 10.00am – 5.00pm

Come down to Bracknell Ski and Snowboard Centre this Easter Monday for a family fun day! Activities will include sno-tubing, taster ski and snowboard lessons, taster ice-skating lessons and public session ice-skating. Must be booked and paid in advance. £9.50 per person, under 5’s go free with a paying adult.

Easter at Beale Park, Pangbourne

There’s loads on for families over Easter at Beale Park, and it all kicks off this weekend.

Easter Trail – 28 March to 16 April, 10.00am – 4.00pm – Bring the children down to have a go at the special Easter Trail at the park over the holidays. For just 50p per child, follow the trail and find 10 answers dotted around the park. Once you’ve finished, hand your answers in to the Gift Shop for your chance to win some fantastic prizes. You may even get a chocolate treat at the end of the trail!

Easter at Bucklebury Farm

There will be plenty of fun on the farm this Easter weekend at Bucklebury Farm. Throughout the Easter holidays they will be running the Great Easter Egg Hunt, where little ones can go off in search of the giant Easter Eggs. You can also get involved in lamb feeding, where kiddies can get hands-on and help feed the orphan lambs at Bucklebury Farm.

Easter Fun at Oakley Court Hotel, Windsor

Free Easter Egg Hunt – 30 March – 16 April 2018

Keeps the kiddies entertained this Easter break with a egg hunt at Oakley Court Hotel. The Easter bunny has hidden clues across the hotel and the grounds and your little ones need to help to solve the puzzle. Pick up your clue sheet from Reception, and off you go! Easter Sunday Family Roast Dinner – Sunday 1 April 2018

If you fancy treating yourselves this Easter to a slap up family meal, without any of the stress and burnt potatoes, then why not look at booking a table at Oakley Court Hotel. On Sunday 1 April they will host a special Easter Sunday Family Roast, 3 courses of yumminess with a special child sized portions for the little ones. Yucky You Show at The Lookout, Bracknell

In this disgustingly entertaining live science show you can find out all sorts of things like:

  • why mucus is snot a bad thing
  • what happens to the food we eat
  • how long your hair can grow

Our shows run at the weekends and in Bracknell school holidays. Shows cost £1.95 per person, on top of your entry fee. You don’t need to pre-book tickets to our shows, just buy them from reception on the day. Show times are everyday at; 11.00am, midday, 2.00pm, 3:15pm.

Shows are suitable for Primary school age children. A good guide is whether a child can sit still for around 40 minutes, however our presenters are very good at tailoring the content to the show audience. Please note, all shows need at least 10 people to run.

Easter at Cliveden National Trust

Running from 30 March and all over the Easter holidays, bring the little ones to Cliveden National Trust this Easter for a Spring themed trail around the estate, and a chocolate treat at the end! There’s no need to book, just turn up and enjoy all that Cliveden has to offer. As well as the trail there’s a children’s play area, a maze and café & restaurant if you want to grab a bite to eat too.

The trail will run daily from 30 March – 15 April 2018, 10.00am – 3.30pm. It’s £3.00 per child and you can get your trail sheet from the information centre by the main car park.

Easter Weekend at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire

30 March – 2 April 2018

Enjoy an Easter weekend of eggsploration and family entertainment at Blenheim Palace. Follow an over-sized Easter Egg Hunt throughout the ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland and Pleasure Gardens with some 8ft giant decorated eggs to find. Explore the grounds to discover the special ‘Blenheim Egg’, note it’s location on your map and enter a competition to win an Easter surprise.

The Pleasure Gardens will transform into an Easter Wonderland with lots of interactive experiences, family-friendly activities and shows to enjoy. Find a traditional Victorian Fairground with vintage rides for the whole family. There will also be a feast of family-friendly food with a range of fresh hot and cold snacks, handmade pizzas, soups, salads, ice cream and a range of healthy options for children too.

Runs 10.00am – 5.00pm. Admissions: children under 5 are free, children 5 – 16 years £14.50, adults £23.00. There will be a small surcharge for some activities.

Easter Egg Hunt at Hughenden Manor, Bucks

30 March – 2 April 2018

Go on a hunt for giant eggs around the garden at Hughenden this Easter with the kiddies. Finish the hunt and you’ll get a chocolate treat at the end! There are 2 versions of the hunt, one for small children and one for larger explorers.

The hunt costs £3.00 per child and runs from 30 March – 2 April, 10.00am – 4.00pm. It’s suitable for children from 2 – 12 years and booking isn’t needed, you can just turn up and pay on the day.

Easter Egg Hunt at Waddesdon Manor, Bucks

Head down to Waddesdon Manor this Easter to take part in a fun Easter egg hunt around the grounds. The rare and exotic birds of Waddesdon’s Aviary need your help, help bunny find the eggs before it’s too late!

This egg trail costs £3.00 per child and starts and finishes at the North Front. It will run from 30 March – 2 April 2018, 10.00am – 3.30pm. No need to book, just turn up and play!

Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park

Bring the children to Savill Garden this Easter for The Windsor Great Park Spring Trail. Have family fun as you explore the gardens and learn about the history and natural surroundings of The Great Park. Follow the trail, unscramble the Easter message, before returning to the Savill Building to collect your prize. The trail runs from 10.00am – 5.00pm and trail sheets cost £3.50 each (collect and pay at the main reception in the Savill Building.

A Big Day out with Peter Rabbit, Kew Gardens

Starting on 30 March and running over the Easter weekend and holidays, come to a fun-filled Peter Rabbit themed Easter at Kew Gardens with entertainment for the while family from 30 March to 15 April. Join in this Easter to take part in an exciting adventure featuring Peter Rabbit and his friends. Take part in games and find out about the vegetables that Peter found in Mr McGregor’s garden. Follow a trail based on Peter Rabbit and other Beatrix Potter characters.

Discover Beatrix Potter’s links with Kew, her struggles to get recognised in the scientific community and how this led her to create her world-famous characters.

These activities are all free with your admission to Kew Gardens (adults £17.75, children 4 – 16 years £4.00, children under 4 years free).
