What’s on this Weekend in Berkshire for Families: 3 & 4 February 2018

Afternoons seeming that little bit lighter? First signs of Spring flowers poking through in the garden? Dare we say it, but we have a slight Spring in our step this week! If you’re looking for things to do with the kiddies, here’s our guide to what’s on this weekend in Berkshire for families.

 

Bring on the Battle – Windsor Castle

Bring on the Battle will be taking place every Saturday throughout February and during half term at Windsor Castle. This Saturday 3 February come down from 11.00am – 3.00pm and discover Windsor Castle under siege by taking part in an art workshop and trying on the costumes and armour on display.

Activities are free with your standard entry ticket. For information on ticket prices for Windsor Castle, click here. Admission on the day is free to residents of Windsor and Maidenhead with an Advantage Card.

Snowdrops at Welford Park, Newbury

Why not pay a visit to Welford Park in Newbury, home of Great British Bake Off don’t cha know, to see their stunning snowdrops in the woodland area and along the River Lambourn. The 2018 snowdrop season runs from 31 January – 4 March. Welford Park is open from 11.00am – 4.00pm. You’ll also find a tea room serving homemade cakes, hot and cold drinks and light lunch options. You may even be walking in Paul Hollywood’s footsteps…

Prices: £7.00 adults, £3.00 children (4 – 16 years), children under 4 are free. Dogs kept on leads are welcome. Donations go to West Berkshire charities.

Yucky You Show at The Lookout, Bracknell

In this disgustingly entertaining live science show you can find out all sorts of things like:

  • why mucus is snot a bad thing
  • what happens to the food we eat
  • how long your hair can grow

Our shows run at the weekends and in Bracknell school holidays. Shows cost £1.95 per person, on top of your entry fee. You don’t need to pre-book tickets to our shows, just buy them from reception on the day. Show times are everyday at; 11.00am, midday, 2.00pm, 3:15pm.

Shows are suitable for Primary school age children. A good guide is whether a child can sit still for around 40 minutes, however our presenters are very good at tailoring the content to the show audience. Please note, all shows need at least 10 people to run.

Thatcham Roller Disco, Kennet Leisure Centre

Bring the kids down to Kennet Leisure Centre, 5.00 – 8.00pm on Saturday 3 February 2018 for the Thatcham Roller Disco. Revolution Active will be on site providing the music, help for newbies and skates for anyone who doesn’t have their own. Please bring your own refreshments or you can make use of the vending machines at the centre.

Family session is 5.00 – 6.15pm, open to all 6.30 – 8.00pm. Admission is £5.00 per skater which includes skate hire. Cash payments only.

Odeon Kids Club, Berkshire

Fancy snuggling up with the kiddies in the cinema with a tub of popcorn? It’s a great way to spend a cold morning, and the Odeon make it even easier with their Kids Club. Fantastic films at a fraction of the usual price.

Winter Walks in Berkshire

We love nothing more than getting out in the fresh air at the weekend with the kiddies and the pooch. The more muddy puddles the better. Something slightly further afield this weekend…

Snowdrop Walk, Cliveden National Trust

If you fancy getting out and about this weekend with the little ones, why not head over to Cliveden National Trust for their self-led snow drop walk. Follow the snowdrops around the estate, the best clusters are expected at Blenheim Lawn, Stable Bank and Ilex Grove. Pick up your trail sheet from the information centre. This trail is free of charge (normal admission to Cliveden applies, free entry with National Trust membership).
