Happy last weekend of January! And we’re ending the blue month in style with a weekend packed with family fun. Here’s our guide to what’s on this weekend in Berkshire for families and kids.

My Pet Pals – Free Sessions for Children, Pets at Home

Autumn & Winter Workshop

Find out how to keep your pets happy during the colder months, as well as keeping the wildlife in your garden safe during the Autumn and Winter months, at one of our free My Pet Pals workshops. These workshops will help teach children all about seasonal pet care, including; staying safe in the dark, keeping outdoor pets wrapped up for the winter and how to make sure pets are cared for during fun human events.

Kids Hour – Sphero Maze Challenge

Saturday 27 January 2018, 9.00am – 10.00am

Kids Hour is designed to spark imagination and creativity through fun, hands-on projects. Kids will explore coding with Sphero robots by programming simple movements, loops and more. Then they’ll design a maze and navigate their robot through the obstacles. Kids can bring their own iPad and Sphero Sprk+ robot, or we’ll provide them. Recommended for ages 6 – 12 years. Kids Hour – Book Club

Saturday 27 January 2018, 4.30 – 5.30pm

In this Kids Hour, we’ll be reading The Three Little Pigs on iBooks. We’ll celebrate the magic of storytelling through creativity and play. Kids will get hands-on with drawing characters and scenes, creating their own book cover and more using iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. They can bring their own iPad or we’ll provide one. Yucky You Show at The Lookout, Bracknell

In this disgustingly entertaining live science show you can find out all sorts of things like:

  • why mucus is snot a bad thing
  • what happens to the food we eat
  • how long your hair can grow

Our shows run at the weekends and in Bracknell school holidays. Shows cost £1.95 per person, on top of your entry fee. You don’t need to pre-book tickets to our shows, just buy them from reception on the day. Show times are everyday at; 11.00am, midday, 2.00pm, 3:15pm.

Shows are suitable for Primary school age children. A good guide is whether a child can sit still for around 40 minutes, however our presenters are very good at tailoring the content to the show audience. Please note, all shows need at least 10 people to run.

Odeon Kids Club, Berkshire

Fancy snuggling up with the kiddies in the cinema with a tub of popcorn? It’s a great way to spend a cold morning, and the Odeon make it even easier with their Kids Club. Fantastic films at a fraction of the usual price.

Unicorns are Everywhere, and Other Magical Beasts – Hungerford

Sunday 28 January 2018, 10.00 – 10.50am & 11.10 – 12.00

A magical cartoon drawing and painting workshop for all children over 5 years. Simon will lead a cartoon drawing workshop of unicorns, dragons and other magical beasts and then we’ll paint our favourites. This is a 50-minute session – £3.73 per child includes a drink and a biscuit at the end. If you would like your younger children to take part in the whole workshop you do need to book them a ticket so there are enough resources. Otherwise they are welcome for some messy mark making on the floor – dress for mess just in case. Entry for 3-4 year olds will be £3.00 payable on the door – under 3s go free.
