What’s on this Weekend in Berkshire for Families: 2 & 3 December 2017

Oh, hi December! What a jolly fabulous month. We can officially get the tree up (ours has unofficially been up for 2 weeks already), the tinsel out, and the mulled wine on. And things aren’t just ramping up inside, this weekend there’s more than a festive tingle going on around Berkshire. Read on to find out what you can do with the kiddies this weekend.

Miki, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Maidenhead

This Winter don’t miss the beautiful story of Miki. The theatre show will run from Tuesday 21 November – Saturday 30 December 2017, and you can book your tickets now.

Miki, Polar Bear and Penguin live in a very far away place. It’s an icy world where nothing ever grows. One midwinter eve, they make a wish and Miki embarks on a magical adventure in search of a star. Based on the book by Stephen Mackay, this is an inspiring story about friendship, courage and adventure. It features amazing underwater creatures, enchanting music and extraordinary puppetry.

Datchet Christmas Lights & Fun Day

Saturday 2 December 2017

This year’s Christmas Fun Day takes place on Saturday 2 December 2017, and it’s jam packed with fun and festivities. The day starts with the St.Nicholas Fayre at St.Mary’s Church from 12.30pm to 3.00pm, with stalls, Santa’s Grotto and a cafe. From 3.00pm Father Christmas will be hosting tea at St.Mary’s Church. Come and tell him what you want for Christmas and have a slice of cake! The Family Advent Carol Service with Marlow Town Band will start at 4pm. A candlelit procession from the church will follow the service and that’s when the festivities will start on The Green. Join us for more carols by candlelight with Marlow Town Band, and more Christmas songs. Enjoy food and drink from local businesses this weekend as we switch on our Christmas tree lights. And after all that, you can browse the Christmas gift stalls, go and visit Father Christmas in his grotto, have your face painted, and maybe enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. Lots of Christmassy fun for everyone to enjoy! We’ll start on The Green at 5pm and be finished by 7.30pm.

Windsor On Ice, Alexandra Gardens

Alexandra Gardens is once again home to Windsor On Ice (think ice rinks, rides, food & drink and live music), which runs from now until 7 January 2018. Rivermead Primary School Christmas Fair

Saturday 2 December 2017, 1.00 – 3.00pm

Lots of Christmassy fun and games for all the family this weekend, including a Santa’s Grotto, mini golf, mulled wine, food and refreshments, children’s games and craft activities, and a raffle. Entrance is free for children and 50p for adults.

Thatcham Christmas Lights & Market

Friday 1 December 2017

Taking place this weekend from 5.00 – 7.00pm, once again the Broadway will be filled with lots of stalls selling Christmas goodies, festive food and drink offerings and little donkeys! On stage will be live music and entertainment and community carol singing. Father Christmas will be making an appearance and at 7.00pm the Mayor of Thatcham will push the magic plunger transforming The Broadway with hundreds of twinkling lights. This is a free, family event not to missed!

Wessex Primary School Christmas Fair

Saturday 2 December 2017, 11.00am – 2.00pm

Come down to Wessex Primary School on Saturday 2 December for their annual Christmas Fair. There will be loads of fun to be had for all the family including; face painting, raffle, lucky dip, Santa’s Grotto, Mrs Claus’ Craft Shop, fun photo booth, tombola, and lots more.

The Borrowers Christmas 2017, The Watermill Theatre, Newbury

Wilde Theatre, Bracknell – Beauty and the Beast

With the success of Cinderella still ringing in the air, we are pleased announce our 2017 pantomime Beauty and the Beast! The bright and beautiful Belle encounters an enchanted castle in which a Beast who has been struck with a curse hides. Despite her fears, she eventually befriends the castle’s magical staff and learns to look beyond the beast’s hideous exterior, allowing her to recognise the kind heart and soul of the prince who is trapped behind the hex.

Mortimer St John’s Infant School Christmas Fair

Come down to Mortimer St John’s Infant School in Reading on 2 December for their annual Christmas fair. With free entry and loads going on, this is one not to miss this weekend. There will be lots of activities for the little ones giving parents the time to brose and get some things ticked off their Christmas lists.

This year the Hungerford Christmas lights will be switched on on Sunday 3 December 2017. There will be music and entertainment for all the family from 4.00pm this weekend, and the lights will be officially switched on at 5.00pm.

The Theatre Royal, Windsor – Sleeping Beauty

Santa’s Grotto at Parkway Shopping Centre, Newbury

2 & 3 December 2017, 10.30am – 4.30pm

Nothing says Christmas is on its way like visiting Santa in his light covered grotto, and even better news for the parents it’s free of charge – any donations welcome with money going to Naomi House and Jacksplace. You’ll find the Grotto at the entrance to Marks and Spencer in the Parkway Shopping Centre.

Oaktree Garden Centre, Bracknell

Christmas at Oaktree Garden Centre near Bracknell is a very special time for all. Come and visit and see our amazing Christmas display, walk through the Christmas Wonderland, full of lit trees and Christmas scenes. Post your Christmas letter to Santa in our special post box and visit the Reindeer from 26th November till Christmas. There are various packages including grotto experience, breakfast and tea with Santa.

From 18 November – 24 December, Christmas will be descending on Wyevale Garden Centres across Berkshire. Bring your little ones along and enjoy a delicious, freshly-prepared breakfast or tea! The whole family meets Santa, children decorate a festive biscuit and then choose their very own present to take home. Lego Christmas at Legoland Windsor Resort

Christmas Roller Skating and Tea with Santa, Bucklebury Farm

Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Mondays between 1 – 23 December 2017

A fantastic festive evening including the chance to skate and enjoy tea with Santa. Suitable for children aged approximately 4 -10 years. £20 per child and one accompanying adult goes free. Activities include: Festive face painting on arrival for all children, feed the donkeys in the festive farm yard lit with sparkling fairy lights, create your own Christmas tree decoration in our creative craft yurt, get your (roller) skates on to join Santa on the rink, decorate ginger bread over hot chocolate with Mrs Claus, afternoon tea with Santa (menu includes pizza, sandwiches and cake, and wrap up for carol singing and a ride home on the ‘polar express’.

Christmas Festival at Odds Farm

Daily from 25 November – 24 December, Christmas is back at Odds Farm, bigger, better and more magical than ever before! Present your Christmas Festival Pass and come and meet Father Christmas, before heading onto the Cuddly Creative Christmas Corner and finally onto the Elves’ Workshop to collect something extra special. Plus, enjoy Festive Entertainment, take part in fun Christmas-themed Arts & Crafts and train to become an Elf at the Elf Academy. Combined with plenty of Christmas Lambs to meet, there’s stacks of festive fun for the whole family.
