What’s on in Berkshire this Weekend for Families: 11 & 12 November 2017

There’s loads going on in Berkshire this weekend for families and children, including yoga, ballet, sports, music and more. Check out our list of what not to miss.

Big Dog Little Dog Parent & Child Yoga, Maidenhead

Sunday 12 November. A unique yoga-based class for parents/carers and their children. Connect and bond through movement and breath. Get ready to fly! class includes elements of acroyoga. Bring one yoga mat (per pair) and one blanket each. Suitable for ages 4 – 8 years, must be accompanied by an adult. The class will take place at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead. £15.00 per parent and child pair.

Windsor’s Rise from the Ashes – Family Saturdays at Windsor Castle

On Saturday 11 November, from 11.00am – 3.00pm, bring the children to Windsor Castle for November Family Saturdays.

Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Windsor Castle after the great fire by taking part in our special art and craft activities for families. The activities are free with a standard entry ticket so you can enjoy the Castle at the same time.

Reindeer Hunt 2017, Newbury

The Newbury Reindeer Hunt 2017 takes place from 11 – 19 November 2017 in the town centre.

Follow the trail around Newbury Town Centre for your chance to win a ride in Santa’s sleigh at the parade on the 26 November. Forms will be available to download from www.visitnewbury.org.uk from the 11 November 2017. Please post completed forms into the ballot boxes found at Marks and Spencer, The Kennet Centre and David Clulow opticians. Alternatively please email through to us: info@newburybid.com.

Sunday Stories at Norden Centre for the Arts, Maidenhead

Interactive storytelling in the magical story den at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead. Parents can join in or unwind in the Café Bar with a latte and the Sunday papers, while little ones get involved in telling stories from all over the world. Age guidance 4 – 7 years. Takes place Sunday 12 November, 11.30am. The session is £3.00 per child and lasts 45 minutes. This Sunday the stories will be ‘The Magical Flying Carpet’ and ‘A Patchwork of Other Fantastical Tales’.

The Nutcracker at Theatre Royal, Windsor

Be swept away on a magical adventure in one of the most famous classical ballets of all time – The Nutcracker. Returning by popular demand, Vienna Festival Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker promises to delight audiences of all ages with its festive setting and light-hearted story. Set to Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous score, it tells the story of Clara and her enchanted nutcracker doll. Their adventures see them combat the Mouse King and journey through the glistening Land of Snow to the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Kingdom of Sweets.

The Nutcracker will be coming to Windsor Theatre from 6 – 11 November 2017. Most shows take place at 7:30pm, but there will be shows at 2:30pm on 9 & 11 November 2017 which will be better for younger budding ballerinas. Ticket prices start from £15.00.

West Berkshire Sands Christmas Craft Fair

On 12 November 2017 10.00am – 4.00pm, come down to the Frank Hutchings Community Hall in Thatcham from 11.00am – 3.00pm for the West Berkshire Sands Christmas Craft Fair. Entry is £2.00 per person (children go free) to help raise money for a baby memorial garden within London Road Cemetery in Thatcham. There will be; children’s crafts, tea and coffee, cakes and biscuits, gift stalls, a nail bar, craft stalls, a raffle and much more.

The Snow Dragon at South Street, Reading

Saturday 11 November 2017, South Street Theatre, Reading – 11.00am and 2.00pm showings.

The night of the Snow Dragon approaches… Billy has everything a young goat could need – and more besides. On New Year’s Eve, Billy is looking forward to the annual visit of the legendary Snow Dragon, who will bring him even more goodies… But when Billy bumps into some hungry wolves in the forest, New Year’s Day seems a long way off. How will Billy escape? And has he been naughty or nice?

Toe-tapping songs and lots of laughs for everyone aged 3 years and up, from the company that brought you ‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘The Snail and the Whale’.

Nick Cope Family Music at the Corn Exchange, Newbury

Saturday 11 November, 10.30am at the Corn Exchange Auditorium, Newbury. Join Nick Cope for his ever-popular interactive music sessions with songs about everything from counting to how plants grow! Nick’s Family Music sessions have proved extremely popular so we advise booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Nick has established a very strong following of little people and their parents from all over the world and the parents love the songs just as much as the children! Nick’s sessions are suitable for children aged 8 and under.

  • What a great round-up! I love the name Big Dog Little Dog Parent & Child Yoga! I also keep meaning to go along to the Sunday Stories at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts. It sounds great fun!
