Who can resist the lure of a traditional Christmas Pantomime? Men dressed as women, sweets hurled in to the audience, no one frowning over your rowdy children, and some risqué gags for the parents thrown in for good measure.  What’s not to love. We pulled together a list of pantos in Berkshire this Christmas 2017.

The Theatre Royal, Windsor – Sleeping Beauty

29 November 2017 – 7 January 2018

Panto at The Theatre Royal is quintessentially English and set in a beautiful traditional theatre which will make you feel nostalgic from the moment you walk through the door. Starring DJ Mike Read, Basil Brush (boom, boom), Kevin Cruise and Steven Blakeney. The enchanting tale is a traditional family favourite and Windsor pantomime has a magnificent reputation as one of the best in all the land. Tickets from £17.00.

The Hexagon, Reading – Peter Pan

9 December 2017 – 7 January 2018

Come and join us on a magical journey as we fly away to Neverland this festive season with Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. Returning due to overwhelming public demand, Cbeebie’s superstar Justin Fletcher will be joining in the fun and mayhem once again as Mr Smee and Paul Morse will be donning another array of fantastic frocks as Nanny McSmee. The Hexagon once again promise a panto full of adventure, with a stunning set, spectacular song and dance routines, a lot of traditional panto slapstick, and of course, a ticking crocodile! The Corn Exchange, Newbury – Beauty and the Beast

Wilde Theatre, Bracknell – Beauty and the Beast

With the success of Cinderella still ringing in the air, we are pleased announce our 2017 pantomime Beauty and the Beast! The bright and beautiful Belle encounters an enchanted castle in which a Beast who has been struck with a curse hides. Despite her fears, she eventually befriends the castle’s magical staff and learns to look beyond the beast’s hideous exterior, allowing her to recognise the kind heart and soul of the prince who is trapped behind the hex.

Wycombe Swan, High Wycombe – Jack and the Beanstalk

A mighty beanstalk will grow on St Mary Street as the giant pantomime adventure Jack and the Beanstalk comes to Wycombe Swan this festive season starring Blue star Simon Webbe, Britain’s Got Talent winner Ashleigh Butler, much loved CBeebies star Chris Jarvis and fabulous panto dame extraordinaire Nigel Ellacott. Follow Jack, his hapless brother, his mother Dame Trot and climb a beanstalk of gigantic proportions to cloudland in the spectacular family pantomime. Doomed to sell his trusty cow, join Jack as he fights to save the beautiful Princess, outwit the evil giant and win riches beyond his wildest dreams, and the hand of the girl he loves. The Anvil, Basingstoke – Peter Pan

Featuring Andrew Agnew (CBeebiesBalamory) as Smee, Gary Turner (Emmerdale, Peter Pan 2011) as Captain Hook, Jessica Punch as Peter Pan, Sarah Louise Day (Cinderella 2014) as Mrs Darling and comedy acrobats The Nitwits as the Pirate Crew.
